Does homosexual propaganda exist? obviously
Is homosexuality an immutable characteristic? who knows?
Do Christians have a right to object to homosexuality in their belief system? Anyone can believe anything they want to believe. The state need not infringe itself upon the church and vice-versa. (And yes I'd fight hard for both)
But I think this video is propaganda of it's own.
First of all the book in question was written in 1989 when homosexuality was feared and hated on a widespread level, obviously that kind of environment produces aftershocks. Second of all, I'd like to see most of the quotes in context.
I don't know a single gay person who has anything to do with an overreaching (edit, typo) "gay agenda". I don't doubt one exists but man, paranoid much?
For the record, I've seen the kind of protesters the parades get. They call themselves Christians but I am telling you, some of those people are scum. Watched a group of them milling around with shirts that say "GAY: Got Aids Yet?" Shameful.
And to that guy who claims that they have nothing in common with black civil rights activists-- that's bull. Hate crimes against gay people exist in the same way they exist against any other minority. The fact that monogamous gay relationships are not legally recognized nationwide has created second class citizenship for homosexuals.
One "reformed" lesbian does not a case make. Sorry. I completely understand where this woman is coming from from a personal psychological point of view, hell, I emphathise a great deal with her situation. But I would argue that she wasn't legitimately gay in the first place if it was all in reaction to her mother's situation. I'd really like to see some more data on this.
No one should have to tolerant hate speech. Christians get a bad rep because of bad Christians.
And why are they dragging S&M into this??
I appreciate that a lot of people have a more conservative viewpoint on this issue. I just wish religion could be taken out of the equation. So long as the two are tangled up it's going to be a bloody mess for everyone.
For the record I would never presume to tell someone else what to believe in their personal life about homosexuality and whether or not it's sinful. I cannot even answer that question in my own heart because there is too much conflict on the issue in the Christian community.
Oh, and yeah, Canada's freedom of speech issue is ridiculous to me. That part of the video I agree with.
